Oxera recently released a report for the Times Health Commission – The economic cost of ill health among the working-age population.

This report found an approximate £150bn annual cost to the economy of ill health, along with about £70bn of annual cost to the government.

Included in this cost is a loss in economic output between £115bn and £148bn due to economic inactivity, as well as a £10bn cost to the NHS of treating conditions that affect ability to work.
