On 30th January, as part of its wider guidance around NHS national priorities for the coming year, NHS England published its 2025/26 Neighbourhood Health Guidelines.
The new guidance outlines steps to transform the health and care system into a neighbourhood health service, providing more care closer to home, improved care access, improved experience and outcomes and enabling an overall more sustainable delivery of care.
Moving towards an improved neighbourhood model of healthcare delivery will be a core factor in achieving the three strategic shifts as set out by the government last year: from hospital to community, from treatment to prevention and from analogue to digital following Lord Darzi’s independent review of the NHS.
