On August 3rd 2023, NHS Confederation published a practical guidance in response to member feedback about the challenges to innovation in the NHS. This guidance sets out practical pointers for innovators and system decision-makers on how to successfully adopt and scale proven innovations.
The guidance has been developed after extensive engagement with NHS Confederation members and based on lessons from successful case studies. It outlines three core pillars of activity to enable adoption of proven innovation:
- Understand – Understand the specific needs of local area or population
- Engage – Engage early with key stakeholders in the design, implementation and use of the new model
- Future-proof – Create a plan for funding implementation and sustained adoption
